Notes for Editors

This wiki is a collaborative project. Everyone is encouraged to add to the information here.

Getting Started

To create a page that has not been linked to yet, e.g. a brand new page, go to the Play Ground and create a link to that new page (remember to use the correct namespace). Save your edit, then click on the link and then click on “create” to create your new page.

Site Organisation

This site is divided into three principle wiki:namespaces, one for each of the universes that Lois principally writes in.

These wiki:namespaces are divided further into general sections:

Namespace Purpose
PeopleAll entries for people and characters should be placed in here. Pages should be named, when possible, in the form surname_firstname, although some discretion is allowed, as not all names can fit into this format.
PlacesAll entries for places belong in this namespace. This is very generic and can be towns, villages, caves, buildings, planets, space stations or anything else that could be considered a place.
OrganisationsThis is for organisations and groups. Cultures and Races should be put into the people section though. It should be noted that it’s okay to have two entries for something, e.g. the Council of Counts might have an entry in Places (for the building) and in Organisations.
EquipmentAny equipment can go in here. Things like weapons, gadgets, vehicles and everything else that people use as tools.
MiscCatch-all namespace for anything that doesn’t fit cleanly into the above namespaces. Entries for events and concepts are good candidates for this namespace.

Editing Guidelines

The first law of Wiki: Only edit a page if you can improve it.

Content

The entries should be written as though you are part of that universe, references or analogies to things in our own universe should be avoided.

Articles should be neutral and should not judge or provide an opinion.

Information about Lois McMaster Bujold, or the actual books has no place on this wiki; that’s what the Bujold Nexus site is for.

Language

Only English may be used on the site.

Articles are to be written in a formal, third-person style and should not include colloquialisms.

Both International (American) and British English is acceptable. When editing an existing article, please make the extra effort to keep the spelling in the article consistent. That is, if the article uses the spelling colour throughout, then please also use colour, and not color.
